Peony 'Vanilla Schnapps'
VANILLA SCHNAPPS - Superlatives fail to describe this cultivar, considered by peony aficionados to be amongst the elite yellow herbaceous plants. Unlike the titular drink, this plant oozes with universal appeal! Flowers are semi-double on young plants, growing to full doubles that are well worth the wait on mature or well-grown plants. Blooms are a soft yellow finishing in a delectable vanilla colour. Guard petals are broad, encircling smaller inner petals and forming the overall impression of a flat, low-profile flower. Vanilla Schnapps bears flowers with distinct and unusual repeatedly notched petals margins, as if treated with pinking shears, producing a distinct frilly and lacy look. Plant growth and habit are superior, with plants quickly and easily increasing and producing a profusion of flowers that are carried on erect stems. Flowers display terrific cut qualities with a vase life better than other varieties in the same category and an ease and reliability of opening after being placed in cold storage. Exceptional and outstanding. -description Nick Maycher of Prairie Peonies.
